Making sense of planning
Over the winter of 2017 it was a pleasure to meet people from the area at a series of creative and critical discussions facilitated by LTHCT about a proposed development across the street from the Town Hall. These events opened up larger discussions about the needs of the area and definitions of affordable housing.
After researching the development further and in consultation with a range of people in the area we objected to the proposed application. While the proposed development’s offer of restoration of a grade II listed building was appreciated, it did not justify its negative impacts, as outlined in our objections.

LTHCT are committed to supporting hearty, transparent, thoughtful and forward thinking discussion and action on how urban development is managed in relation to the diverse needs of the area; and in the context of intensive development pressure happening around E14, in Tower Hamlets and in London.
If you are interested in wider planning issues, which are key to how our lives in the city take shape, get involved in drafting Tower Hamlets local plan. The next stage is in October 2017.
